ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and maintain virtual infrastructure, performing lifecycle upgrades, migrations, and remediation of technical issues.
- Provide Level 1-3 engineering, support, and solution installation across data center, deployed facilities, and tactical network locations, including disaster recovery operations.
- Serve as POC for system health, performance, and capacity, including in feature deployment, drive service standardization, automation improvement, and on-call rotation participation.
- Configure, install, operate, and maintain Dell and Cisco server platforms and VMware environments (vCenter, vSphere, ESXi 5.5–6.5, vSAN, SRM, Virtual Volumes, Unity Sync).
- Utilize Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Availability Orchestrator, Veeam ONE, Veeam Management Pack (MP), and Veeam Agents.
- Ensure full compliance with DISA STIGs and remediate findings across server, network, and virtualization environments.
- Apply virtualization expertise—including hypervisor management, paravirtualization, and VCF components (SDDC Manager, vSphere, vSAN, NSX for vSphere).
- Design, operate, and troubleshoot SAN systems and classified/unclassified server infrastructures (blade chassis, storage arrays, rack hardware, Windows/Linux servers) and support VMware data migration and platform management.
- Plan, design, integrate, and administer disaster recovery strategies to ensure continuity of operations for MSTP environments.
- Conduct daily administration and maintenance of physical and virtual servers, directory services, storage systems, client management, security configurations, and system updates.
EDUCATION
- IAT Level II: Baseline Certification ‐ IAW DoD 8140.01 required (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP); a minimum of one valid Computing Environment (CE)/Operating System (OS) Certificate (i.e. MS Windows Server 2012 R2 Cert, MS Windows 10 cert, a VMware 6.0 Cert); and at least 3 years in IA technology or a related area.
EXPERIENCE
- At least five years of experience in IT, which should include successful experience as an enterprise team member or lead.
- Preferred level of certifications and experience include: MCSE: Core Infrastructure, MCSA: Windows Server 2016, certification and expert knowledge experience support Windows and Linux virtualization in VMware technologies, ESXi on VMware vSphere v6.7/v6.5/v6.0/v5.5, vCenter, and MS PowerShell automation
- MEF level operational military experience in communications with prior experience at the field grade level (0602, 0603, 0699) or equivalent.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Systems: Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016, Windows 10 Client enterprise environments, Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), SQL Server; VMware.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.
- Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, prioritization, interpersonal skills, and able to instinctively adapt, plan, inform and influence.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
- Daily travel in local area during work day (including use of personal vehicle).
- Be able to work an unstable schedule, to include holidays and weekends.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
- CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for up to three weeks at a time (or longer).
- Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
