System Professional Practice Nurse Lead

Job Overview

Fairview is seeking a System Professional Practice Nurse Lead to support adult Critical Care areas at various locations within the system.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expert knowledge and skill in a nursing practice specialty, service line, and across the continuum of care for the system.
• Leads work, processes, and people to design, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative evidence-based interventions and best practices to optimize patient safety, healthcare quality, cost-effectiveness, and improved patient and staff experience.
• Evaluates care of the specialty patient/population against professional standards and evidence.
• Designs, implements, and evaluates practice and outcomes.
• Analyzes proposed practice initiatives to establish impacts on safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Acquires and analyzes data from multiple sources to guide design of practice changes.
• Leverages the organization’s evidence-based practice model to identify the highest quality evidence and disseminates findings from evidence-based practice & research to improve healthcare outcomes.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to diverse organizational cultures and populations, including patients and providers.
• Collaborates in the development of nursing guidelines, performance standards, policies & procedures.
• Provides leadership and promotes the organization's professional governance model for the advancement and autonomy of nursing practice excellence in the organization.
• Consults in the development of patient/family education materials.
• Communicates findings to key stakeholders and follows up with others to ensure closed loop communication.
• Provides expert consultation regarding nursing licensure and scope of practice.
• Promotes competency and excellence in professional and clinical practice and collaborative working relationships across the continuum of care.
• Participates in and/or leads the development and review of policies and procedures across the continuum of care.
• Performs assessments and designs plans to meet regulatory requirements related to nursing practice.
• Performs and communicates system level assessments to identify variables that influence nursing practice and outcomes.
• Leads teams to improve and evaluate nursing sensitive indicators and other clinical quality metrics to improve clinical performance.
• Buils effective teams by including key stakeholders within and across units, departments, service lines, populations, sites, and organization and conducts routine intermittent stakeholder assessments as part of the project management process.
• Collaborates with and supports the work of nursing practice councils and teams to improve patient care and interdisciplinary workflows.
• Uses evidence-based strategies for leading, communicating, and facilitating changes in clinician practice and team behaviors.
• Supports the clinical and professional development of colleagues through role modeling, may serve as preceptor and mentor.
• Participates in professional development and staff educational programs to support continual nurse competence.
• Supports the Professional Practice Model through integration into daily work, role modeling, and mentorship of nurses across the system.
• Acquires, analyzes, plans, disseminates, and implements evidence-based practice into the clinical environment to promote best practices.
• Initiates, facilitates, and/or participates in research activities or quality improvement activities.
• Applies ethical principles when analyzing and assisting with concerns or issues.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Nursing
• 3 years of nursing experience
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc)

• Required for those supporting: ED, Critical Care/Cardiac Telemetry, Post-Operative (Phase 1 only) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (American Heart Assoc)
• Required for those supporting: Maternity/NICU or PEARS (American Heart Assoc)
• Required for those supporting: Pediatrics, ED, Post-Operative (if site does peds surgery) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Assoc)
• Required for those supporting: Pediatrics, ED, Post-Operative (if site does peds surgery) or TNCC, ENPC.
• Required for those supporting ED or Workplace Conflict Mgmt Program or BCS.
• Required for those supporting: Behavioral/mental health

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Science
• 6 years Nursing experience

Compensation

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
