System President position with the Maine Community College System (MCCS). The MCCS serves over 33,000 individuals annually through associate degrees, certificates, workforce training, early college programs, and other learning opportunities.

About the role

The System President serves as the Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the operation of the System’s seven colleges. The President is appointed by and reports to the Board of Trustees, requiring a strong, collaborative working relationship with the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing strategic planning and vision for the System.
  • Work collaboratively and innovatively with employees, businesses, industry, legislature, government, community organizations, and public/private education institutions.
  • Understand and advance the System’s role in creating an educated, skilled, and adaptable workforce responsive to Maine’s economic needs.
  • Oversee enrollment strategies and workforce development programming.
  • Demonstrate a proven record of fundraising.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten years of demonstrated successful senior executive experience, preferably in post-secondary education.
  • Advanced academic degree.
  • Experience in strategic planning and leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government, business, and educational institutions.
  • Deep understanding of workforce development and enrollment strategies.

Pay

Salary is expected to be approximately $225,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
