About the role
This position involves building and validating restraint component models using finite element (FE) software, correlating simulations to physical test data, and optimizing component performance. You will conduct parameter studies, design of experiments, and topology studies for system optimization, as well as biomechanical and film analysis. The role supports product engineering with component development and technical project management of occupant restraint systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and validate restraint component models using FE software to match physical test data
- Correlate simulation results to test data and optimize component performance
- Carry out parameter studies, design of experiments, or topology studies for component and system optimization
- Perform biomechanical data analysis and film analysis
- Simulate and evaluate load cases for occupant restraint systems
- Analyze test results (crash, sled, out-of-position) and conduct parameter studies for restraint system correlation
- Support Product Engineering with component development and optimization
- Create and present status updates in project meetings, both internally and with customers
- Actively participate in DFMEA and Design Reviews
- Coordinate test setups with responsible Product/Systems Engineers
- Manage technical aspects of occupant restraint system or safety projects, if applicable
- Stay current with global government regulations and consumer test (NCAP/IIHS/C-IASI) performance criteria and methods

Requirements
- BS or higher degree in Engineering, Numerical Mathematics, or a comparable field
- Experience with global safety regulations and consumer ratings
- Background in biomechanics and accident reconstruction
- Sound knowledge of explicit FE solvers such as LS-DYNA and PamCrash
- Experience with operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux)
- Proficiency with pre- and post-processing tools (e.g., Hyperworks, Animator, Visual Environment, Primer)
- Knowledge of occupant safety and/or vehicle crash, including legislative and consumer test requirements for passive and active safety systems
- Strong PC skills (MS Office)
- Self-motivation, teamwork, and project/time management abilities
