System Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician II

About the role

This position provides technical functions associated with the warehousing and delivery of system-wide pharmacy services for the Main Hospital, Clinics, and Mail Order operations. Responsibilities include fulfilling high-volume orders, maintaining proper stock levels across multiple pharmacy locations, compounding or preparing pharmaceuticals, filling, pricing, and delivering medications or related items.

The incumbent may perform duties such as receiving and breaking down large shipments, operating and maintaining automated robotic systems, preparing and packaging orders for mail or central distribution, maintaining pharmacy records, and providing customer service for Pharmacy Department services. This role completes essential functions under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.

As a System Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician II, this position provides advanced services, including maintenance of automated robotic systems and narcotic coordination. Incumbents plan, coordinate, and implement training programs for other staff and have a higher level of responsibility for departmental and organizational problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in advanced tasks associated with patient care.
• Effectively manages large-scale supplies of the department.
• Troubleshoots automated robotic systems used for the request and delivery of pharmaceutical products in the warehouse.
• Problem-solves operational issues within the department and organization related to the medication use process.
• Assists in the education and training of staff and other trainees.
• Performs mathematical calculations for extemporaneous compounding, special dose preparation, rectifying drug distribution errors, and reconciling billing and administration records.
• May determine options from pre-established departmental policies and procedures but cannot act outside of these unless authorized by a Pharmacist.
• Varies work routines according to patient care priorities.

Requirements

• Current Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Utah.
• 6 months of experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.

Skills

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
• Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Technical aptitude for operating automated robotic systems and multiple software systems.
• Problem-solving skills for the operation and maintenance of all automated systems in the Pharmacy Department.
• Knowledge of mathematical calculations for compounding, dose preparation, and record reconciliation.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Involves manual work that may exert up to 50 pounds.
• Requires repetitive motions, lifting, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects.
• Exposure to a low-frequency hum, which may require ear protection.
• Involves standing for extended periods of time.
• Not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
