About the role
Serving as a critical liaison between customers, Sales, Marketing, Lab, Color, Quality, and Operations, this role ensures that coil samples meet strict technical specifications, quality standards, and customer application requirements. The position directly supports new and incremental sales through sample preparation, product qualification, technical support, ECC assistance, and timely customer communication. This role requires on-site presence and reports to the Minneapolis, MN location. It is not a remote or hybrid position.
Responsibilities
- Apply working knowledge of coil products, coatings, colors, manufacturing processes, and quality standards to evaluate and qualify sample requests.
- Interact directly with Sales teams and customers to answer product, color, coating, and application-related questions.
- Develop expertise in coil technology to provide technical support and recommendations for customer and internal inquiries.
- Cut, prepare, label, and distribute coil samples according to customer specifications and company standards.
- Perform quality inspections on samples to verify compliance with established color parameters, specifications, and performance requirements prior to release.
- Generate and communicate technical values and supporting documentation required for customer evaluations and approvals.
- Provide ECC (Electronic Color Communication) support, ensuring accuracy and consistency of color data and related customer deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with Lab, Color, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure samples meet all technical and performance specifications.
- Maintain organized, traceable sample inventory and library systems.
- Monitor lab capacity and technical constraints to provide accurate lead times and customer expectations.
- Conduct quality checks and documentation reviews to ensure sample and product information accuracy.
- Maintain product records and add or update product, color, and sample codes within company platforms and databases.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Identify process inefficiencies or technical bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
- Maintain and expand technical knowledge of SWCC coil products, applications, coatings, color systems, and performance attributes.
- Assist in training and mentoring other sample or library associates on technical requirements and processes.
- Support cross-functional communication between Sales, Marketing, Quality, Lab, Color, Customer Service, and Operations teams.
- Assist with preparation of technically accurate sales materials, product literature, and customer-facing documentation.
- Act as a technical resource for internal stakeholders regarding sample preparation, color standards, and product capabilities.

Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of customer service or inside/outside sales experience
Preferred:
- Experience in color science, coatings, or manufacturing industries
- Previous experience working in a team-oriented setting including work experience, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.
- Previous work experience selling paint and paint related products
- Experience using timekeeping and/or customer relationship management ("CRM") systems
- Experience with Excel
- Basic understanding of color, coatings, or manufacturing workflows
