System Engineer - Senior

About the role

This senior-level System Engineer position is located in Winchester, VA, and follows a hybrid work model. Candidates must possess an active Top Secret/SCI Eligibility Clearance. Selected individuals will be subject to Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph examinations based on assignment after their start date and must maintain required CI Polygraph eligibility throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and perform additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
• Provide direct support in day-to-day network operations, including system utilization evaluation, response time monitoring, and primary support for detecting and correcting operational problems.
• Troubleshoot network issues at both the physical and logical levels, using network measurement tools, hardware testing, and communication protocol analysis.
• Participate in planning, designing, technical review, and implementation of new network infrastructure hardware and operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
• Perform systems management and integration functions, including proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration.
• Maintain network infrastructure standards, including TCP/IP and other communication protocols.
• Provide technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
• Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.
• Design, deploy, evaluate, test, and certify storage and backup systems, addressing interoperability issues for all features, components, and application dependencies.
• Ensure systems are current with approved patches and assist with certification and accreditation tasks.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quick Reference guides for users.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret/SCI Eligibility Clearance.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of System Engineer experience.
• Current SAFe Software Engineer (ASE) Certification.
• Experience configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware, operating systems, and connected devices.
• Ability to monitor system and network performance and resolve complex technical issues.
• Experience supporting network infrastructure design, deployment, integration, and administration.
• Proficiency in managing virtualization, storage, backups, patching, testing, and system accreditation activities.
• Strong technical documentation skills and ability to provide technical support and training.

Pay

A reasonable salary range for this position is $115,000–$165,000, determined by local market conditions and candidate qualifications, including skills, education, and experience.
