System Engineer -Payload Engineer

About the role
As a Thunderbolt Solutions employee, your role will focus on performing a variety of systems engineering activities concerned with hardware/software integration, failure analysis, test, and verification of electrical components of major Department of Defense systems.
Responsibilities
- Prime interface with Sensor providers to ensure proper development, testing, and integration is completed prior to installation onto platform
- Validate sensors are operational on new platform through test and integration activities
- Great communication skills required as interaction will be needed between Government, Prime contractor, and other industry partners
- Embedded with Prime contractor leading Command and Control working groups and interfacing with Sensor providers
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of professional technical experience in System and Subsystem Requirements analysis focusing on analysis, development, documentation, and validation of Cyber Security Systems in the Aerospace/Defense and/or Commercial systems
- Familiarity with Aerostat Systems and Radar/ELINT/IFF platforms
- Exposure to requirements engineering and management of requirements using Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML
- Modeling with Rational Rhapsody (a plus)
- Familiar with Atlassian tools including Jira and Confluence
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by a record of influencing internal leadership and external customers on design decisions
- Understanding of electronic, electrical, computer, and networking systems
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
Qualifications
- Knowledge of systems engineering development methodologies
- Experience with airborne sensors and surveillance systems
- Current U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance (desired)
Pay
The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $120,000 and $160,000. This range represents a reasonable estimate based on the expected scope of work and varying levels of experience. Final compensation will depend on several factors, such as job responsibilities, relevant experience, education, certifications, specific skills, internal alignment, and prevailing market rates. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
