System Engineer II
Our client is seeking a System Engineer II with a strong Linux foundation and DevOps mindset to support Linux-based systems, applications, and device platforms. This hands-on role combines system administration, troubleshooting, deployments, CI/CD, containerization, automation, and BAU support.
About the role
The ideal candidate is curious about how systems work, comfortable troubleshooting issues from end to end, and able to learn new applications quickly. This person will work closely with other engineers to investigate problems, support deployments, and improve internal processes.
Responsibilities
- Support and troubleshoot systems and applications within a Linux environment
- Manage BAU and support requests through Jira, including device connectivity, application, access, and system issues
- Support application and code deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines
- Work with Argo and other deployment and automation tools
- Troubleshoot device activation and networking issues involving DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, configuration files, routers, modems, and set-top boxes
- Monitor systems, review alerts and logs, and resolve production or environmental issues
- Use Splunk and similar tools for log analysis and troubleshooting
- Write or maintain scripts that support automation and internal engineering processes
- Work closely with engineers and cross-functional team members to understand systems and resolve technical problems
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Linux Administration, DevOps, infrastructure, or a related area
- 1+ years of hands-on Linux administration and troubleshooting experience
- Experience supporting deployments, CI/CD pipelines, automation, or scripting
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DHCP and DNS
- Experience managing technical requests or support work through Jira
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to explain how technical issues were investigated and resolved
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java or Python
- Experience with Argo and Helm
- AWS or private cloud experience
- Splunk or similar log-analysis experience
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or AI-based automation
- Experience supporting routers, modems, set-top boxes, or device activation platforms
- Experience with test automation or application testing

- Curious about how applications, infrastructure, and connected systems work
- Comfortable learning new applications and technical processes
- Able to approach unfamiliar problems with a clear troubleshooting process
- Communicates openly and works closely with other team members
- Flexible enough to support automation, deployments, troubleshooting, and occasional manual testing

Work Environment
Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid)
Pay
The approximate pay range for this position is between $32.00 and $45.00 per hour. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
