About The Role

The Lead Systems Engineer position at L3Harris is pivotal within our Spectrum Superiority segment, based at our Salt Lake City, UT facility. This role involves leading the end-to-end lifecycle support of complex systems, from initial conceptual development through to product phase-out. The primary focus is on Systems Integration and Test (I&T), ensuring that hardware, software, and networked components work seamlessly together to meet stringent performance and reliability standards.

Qualifications

  • A current DoD security clearance is mandatory.
  • Candidates should possess an ABET-accredited Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience without a degree are also considered.
  • A solid background in systems engineering, with experience in requirements analysis, risk mitigation, and system development, particularly in defense-related projects.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama, and experience in system security testing, model-based systems engineering, and system integration is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical projects or segments thereof within a high-productivity environment, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Capture, analyze, and manage customer and derived requirements, ensuring traceability from system-level requirements down to verification test matrices.
  • Develop technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans, and procedures to support system integration and validation activities.
  • Employ industry best practices, tools, and methodologies to design, develop, or modify products, ensuring adherence to technical standards and customer expectations.
  • Cook up and lead design reviews such as System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
  • Plan and execute system integration and testing activities, including developing and implementing test strategies and procedures.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, manage subcontracts, and ensure procurement of required products and services meet project specifications.
  • Ensure all technical activities conform to established policies, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Travel 20-40% to support technical meetings, verification activities, and collaboration with customers and subcontractors.
