About the role

The Systems Engineer will demonstrate an understanding of product quality requirements and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with sensor imaging systems, products, and exploitation processes. They will have an understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle to include independent testing and data verification, requirements, and development of concept of operations. The candidate will work with test plans and procedures and work on an assessment team on a project.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrated experience testing software functionality and usability
• Work with test plans and procedures and work on an assessment team on a project
• Define product format requirements for new products to meet integration and interoperability requirements of the NSG
• Apply image science knowledge/experience to develop test plans and procedures to assess data quality and accuracy
• Identify data needs to adequately perform product assessments to meet test objectives
• Experience testing software functionality and quality
• Quantify visual quality of imagery products and work with developers to troubleshoot causes of errors
• Develop engineering-quality verification tools

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a Poly
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related field

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of PAN, IR, and RADAR imagery concepts
• Experience in test, verification and validation against specifications to meet planned concept of operations
• Functional understanding of NSG image chain analysis as well as TCPED concepts
• Experience in image science field working with the fundamentals of image processing, image formation, optics, digital signal processing
• Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle to include independent testing and data verification, requirements, and development of concept of operations
• Software development skills to support system engineering tasks and data analysis, specifically C/C++, Python, JAVA, Matlab, IDL and/or scripting languages
• High-level written and oral communication skills

Experience levels

• Junior - Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires guidance, as appropriate.
• Mid - Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Able to develop and use more complex concepts and processes, conduct root cause problem analysis and develop technical solutions to problems. Guides and supports junior level personnel. Requires guidance when dealing with new, uncertain, undefined or undeveloped tasks.
• Senior - Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Able to develop and use more complex concepts and processes, conduct root cause problem analysis and develop technical solutions to problems. Guides and supports junior level personnel.
