About the Role
Director of Health Technology Management (HTM) plans, develops, and implements all aspects of the biomedical engineering function for Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH). This role oversees sourcing, preparation, use, and maintenance of biomedical electronic equipment, medical devices, and instruments across BSWH healthcare facilities to support patient care delivery and research.
The Director develops and implements a system-wide biomedical sourcing strategy, policies, procedures, and practices that meet service and quality standards while managing total costs. This includes evaluating and advising on new biomedical equipment and technologies, managing implementation, and monitoring efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and costs.
The HTM team ensures biomedical equipment inventory and surgical supplies are maintained, repaired, recalibrated, and comply with inventory standards, including expiration monitoring, contamination prevention, sterilized handling, and packaging preservation. The Director also develops programs, processes, and tools to monitor internal equipment requests, forecast supply needs, and maintain service levels, focusing on continuous improvement of HTM processes.
Collaboration with leadership in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, finance, and other departments drives improvement in HTM processes across the BSWH system. The Director develops, implements, and communicates system-wide initiatives to evaluate vendors, set price controls, and prioritize cost-reduction goals by sourcing category, ensuring compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.
This role translates and implements strategic plans and goals, makes final judgments on operational matters, and recommends policies and organizational changes. Erroneous judgments can impact the area's success, business unit, or overall organization. The Director plans and directs department operations, including staffing, processes, budgets, and costs, often overseeing one or more managers or supervisors.
