System Design Engineer

About the role

The Surfscan group within KLA is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support the development of next-generation inspection tools. This role involves transforming market and customer requirements into system configurations, developing novel inspection solutions, designing experiments to validate ideas, defining system error budgets, translating system requirements into sub-module requirements, collaborating with functional teams to ensure sub-module requirements are met, and owning the creation and execution of prototype test plans.

Responsibilities

• Transform market and customer requirements into system configurations
• Develop novel inspection solutions to improve sensitivity and throughput
• Design experiments to validate ideas
• Define system error budget
• Translate system requirements into sub-module requirements
• Work with functional team to ensure sub-module requirements are met
• Collaborate with key functional groups to ensure the success of tool integration and product launch
• Own creation and execution of prototype test plans for entire system and complex subsystems
• Engage with customer technical development, drive team to resolve system issues at customer site or in manufacturing

Requirements

• Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience
• Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years
• Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years

Qualifications

• Experience developing inspection or metrology is preferred
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing is preferred
• Project management skills (scoping, budgeting, and scheduling) is a plus
• Deep understanding in high resolution optical design, high speed sensor technology, advance image / signal processing techniques, statistical analysis techniques and simulation knowledge
• Multitasking, working independently, and being a motivated team member
• Strong written and verbal communications skills

• Base Pay Range: $136,300.00 - $231,700.00 Annually
