About the role

New Mexico Water Resources at New Mexico State University is seeking an experienced IT professional to lead and manage its complex technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for administering enterprise Linux and Windows systems, Active Directory, networking, cybersecurity, cloud services, databases, web servers, GIS technologies, and field-based telemetry systems that support statewide water research.

Responsibilities

• Analyze management and organization's needs, and design, implement, maintain, and administer WRRI IT infrastructures.
• Supervise and lead lower graded staff and student employees.
• Participate in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring for purchase and maintenance of hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
• Administer department networking.
• Develop custom software and automation tools.
• Manage hardware and software lifecycles.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of NM WRRI's mission-critical information technology environment.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree + 7 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of experience directly related to the job duties and responsibilities as outlined.

Working Conditions

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
• Lifting requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
