System Administrator, VDI SME position located at Camp H M Smith, HI.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, install, update, and secure operating systems and applications across over 300 Virtual Machines (VMs) in various Virtual Operating Environments (VOEs) with differing security classifications.
- Utilize platforms such as VMware vCenter, VMware Horizon View, VMware ESXi, and storage solutions including Rubrik, Cohesity, and Pure Storage.
- Ensure operations, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets in compliance with established IT standards and procedures.
- Maintain Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance and manage DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) requirements.
- Integrate all systems into the Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) architecture.
- Monitor security and performance logs, and manage ServiceNow tickets.
- Participate in technical meetings to provide expert recommendations.
- Handle backup and restoration processes, support command exercises and inspections, and manage Continuity of Operations (COOP) for VOE systems.
- Create, maintain, and update VOE Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide monthly status reports detailing accomplishments, ongoing issues, and efforts requiring government action.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be necessary to support service outages.
Qualifications
- Active TS clearance and eligible for SCI.
- Must meet intermediate proficiency level as per DoDM 8410.03.
- Must possess ONE of the following 8570 IAT-II certifications:
- CCNA Security
- CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst)
- GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional)
- GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials Certification)
- Security+ CE
- SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
- At least three years of experience managing and supporting VMWare vCenter & Horizon View environments.
- Experience managing and securing VMWare and Windows Desktop systems within a DoD environment.
- Experience securing systems and applications in accordance with Federal, DoD, and customer regulations, directives, policies, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
- Experience managing application virtualization and VDI baseline images.
- Experience managing Secure Host Baselines.
- Experience managing Rubrik and Cohesity.
- Experience managing VMWare SAN, vCOPS, vRO, and ESXi in a DoD environment.
- Experience managing Tintri and Pure storage.
- Experience supporting Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) agents.
- Must be “VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) 6 (or later)” certified, with certification in good standing.
- Proactive approach to system management and strong collaboration skills to ensure a secure and efficient virtual desktop infrastructure.
- Ability to work occasional after-hours and weekend shifts to support service outages.
