The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students in a vibrant learning community of 17 state-of-the-art buildings in west-central Ohio. Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields (a plus)
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, and MDM platforms to manage macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Windows devices or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Knowledge of FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, and other regulations surrounding staff and student data privacy

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing issues, and assessing impact
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Handle capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

This contracted position works 234 days per year, 8 hours per day.

Pay

Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated SASO/SAST Agreement and increases with experience and education. Refer to the current agreement for pay details for the 2025-26 school year.
