About the role

The Cyber Security System Administrator is responsible for managing and securing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of critical systems. This role involves deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting security tools, managing IT and vendor risk, monitoring system performance, and implementing security best practices. This position works closely with other security engineers, IT teams, and business units to enforce security policies, respond to incidents, remediate security vulnerabilities, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain servers, networks, and other IT systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware components for systems.
  • Maintain user accounts and permissions, ensuring proper access control and security compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan and implement software and system upgrades or enhancements.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and other relevant information for team use.
  • Assist with network management, ensuring seamless connectivity across the organization.
  • Respond to system alerts and perform root cause analysis on issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage cloud-based infrastructure and services (if applicable), ensuring integration with on-premises systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Must be accessible via mobile services (i.e. text, voice, data) during non-working hours for upgrades, system outages, and configuration changes.

Requirements

  • Experience working with network and application vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge and understanding of security frameworks.
  • Capable of communicating directly with all areas of the company regarding vulnerabilities and risk.
  • Ability to lead monthly patch management meetings and follow-up meetings to ensure patches for servers and endpoints are being implemented timely.
  • Knowledge and understanding of application and network security threats and vulnerabilities to be able to provide cybersecurity recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • CISSP certification preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in network and application vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure management.
