SY26-27 Physical Education/Health Teacher
About the role
Georgia Fugees Academy Charter School (GFACS) is collecting applications for a Physical Education/Health Teacher serving 6th-12th Grade who possess an unwavering commitment to the Fugees Family, Inc. mission and the willingness to go above & beyond to meet the needs of students, families, and staff. Reporting to the School Leader, this is a 10-month, exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education/Health lessons.
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, fitness, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate effectively with families and collaborate with school staff.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development.
- Supervise students and ensure the safe use of equipment and facilities.
Requirements
- Excellent command of the English language with a passion for supporting expressive language in non-native speakers
- A strong sense of loving accountability and individual and collective responsibility
- Believe that all students are capable of academic achievement
- Commit to building deep, authentic relationships with students and families
- Duties and expectations are carried out in a positive, productive, accurate, and punctual/on-time manner
- Be receptive to coaching, mentoring, feedback, and performance evaluations for purposes of professional growth and development
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Valid state teaching certification (or eligibility) in Physical Education and/or Health. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching or teaching soccer.
- Experience leading wellness activities, such as yoga, mindfulness, or fitness programming.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Salary is Based on Years of Direct K-12 Experience and Degree Held
