Principal Accountabilities

• Remain up to date regarding curriculum content.
• Educate students on the curriculum effectively and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments when necessary.
• Manage the classroom environment effectively.
• Instruct students clearly on learning goals and use appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
• Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance student learning and confidence.
• Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
• Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including implementing strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second language learners.
• Collaborate with Special Education and English Language Learner (ELL) specialists to meet the specific needs of particular students.
• Prepare students for MCAS.
• Understand the High School philosophy and structure of High School teams.
• Maintain data and documentation as appropriate.
• Participate in school-wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher.

Qualifications

• Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL 5-12; Valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement; Fully licensed and Highly Qualified; Authorization to work in the United States.
• Demonstrated experience in English Language Development (ELD) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies.
• Prior experience in urban, high-poverty, and/or turnaround schools is preferred.
• A major or minor in the specific teaching content area is preferred.
• Additional certification in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities is preferred.
• Bilingual language proficiency (Spanish/English) is strongly preferred.
