This is a pooled posting for multiple elementary teaching positions for the 2026–2027 school year (Primary Grades K–2nd).
About the Role
The Teacher will be responsible for teaching students a variety of fundamental subjects as well as integrating a research-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum throughout the day. The Teacher will work alongside an Instructional Assistant to provide a fully-integrated learning experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide children with a fully-integrated learning day.
- Teach students skills of self-regulation and communication.
- Teach students through active engagement and lines of inquiry to enhance learning.
- Evaluate child’s achievement of grade-level expectations based on TDOE standards.
- Communicate with parents and students regularly.
- Model emotional regulation, appropriate behaviors, and clear rules for the classroom and beyond.
- Use positive discipline tactics aligned with Perea’s Student Support Model.
- Help students develop positive relationships and emotional intelligence in practical, relevant ways.
- Teach and model strong reading and listening skills.
- Teach students to express increasingly sophisticated feelings using words.
- Teach foundational literacy and numeracy.
- Help families identify strengths and areas of growth to meet individual student needs.
- Assist families in accessing resources and supports for wrap-around services.
- Participate in professional learning and share resources.
- Praise students to acknowledge development and achievements using appropriate words and body language.
- Conduct all work activities in a timely and professional manner reflecting best educational practices.
- Support and reinforce Perea’s Core Values: community, empathy, innovation, safety, and excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong record of academic achievement.
- Valid Tennessee Teacher License (or eligible for emergency credentials).
- Affinity for the mission of Perea Elementary School.
- Personal and professional integrity.
Subjects taught include social studies, science, language arts (phonics, reading, writing, listening, and speaking), and math.
