The Opportunity
Prospect Schools is seeking a STEM Special Education Teacher to deliver engaging, inclusive STEM instruction that empowers students with diverse learning needs. The role requires a deep understanding of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and an ability to foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.
About the Role
As an educator at Prospect, you will be part of a collaborative and high-performing instructional team and will report directly to a member of the school leadership team. You will be responsible for planning and delivering culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles
- Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students
- Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth
- Create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment by setting clear expectations and consistent routines
- Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers
- Collaborate across grade level and content teams, participate in professional development, and partner with the broader school community
- Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team
- Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress
- Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events
Requirements
- Earned a Bachelors Degree
- Prior teaching experience
- In the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification

- Strong content knowledge in STEM subjects
- Experience with the IB curriculum

Pay
The salary range for this role starts at $63,960, then increases based on years of experience. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
