Division/Department: School Leadership and Operations – Pay Grade: $17/hour – Hourly, temporary position (183 contract days per year). Reports to School Nutrition Manager and Principal.

About the Role

Prepare and serve nutritionally adequate meals to students, staff, and visitors in an efficient and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.
  • Follow recipes to ensure menus are low-fat and healthy.
  • Use portion control to equally portion all foods.
  • Implement state/local health codes as they relate to food service.
  • Follow all safety regulations.
  • Wash dishes and store them properly.
  • Sweep and clean kitchen floors.
  • Serve on the serving line.
  • Operate large and small food service equipment according to procedures.
  • Follow appropriate dress codes to represent school nutrition professionally.
  • Clean equipment, kitchen, and dining tables as needed.
  • Report faulty equipment to School Nutrition Manager.
  • Assist with checking in USDA commodities and purchased foods.
  • Help unload and store all foods and supplies.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward the job, fellow workers, school staff, and students.
  • Participate in and attend all in-service training programs.
  • Perform average lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess and maintain any required license, certificate, or credential for the position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program (preferred), or satisfactory completion of a Foodservice basic skills test.
  • Food service experience preferred but not mandatory.

Benefits

FICA is paid by the employee and matched by the School District. Temporary workers do not qualify for additional employee benefits.
