The Opportunity

Prospect Schools is seeking a 5-8 SpEd Teacher (All Content) for our SYC campus to provide engaging, inclusive, and differentiated instruction across content areas. The ideal candidate will support students with diverse learning needs by fostering academic growth, building confidence and independence, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and creating an equitable, supportive classroom environment that inspires a lifelong love of learning.

About the Role

As an educator at Prospect, you will be part of a collaborative and high-performing instructional team and will report directly to a member of the school leadership team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles
• Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students
• Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth
• Create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment with clear expectations and consistent routines
• Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers
• Collaborate across grade level and content teams, participate in professional development, and partner with the broader school community
• Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team
• Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress
• Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events

Requirements

You have earned a Bachelors Degree. You have prior teaching experience. You are in the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification.

Qualifications

Salary: The salary range for this role starts at $63,960 then increases based on years of experience. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
