About the role

Nuasin Next Generation Charter School is in search of motivated, mission-aligned individuals to join us in providing the scholars and families of the Highbridge section of the Bronx with the truly excellent school they deserve. We are looking for educators who believe in the talent and intellectual capabilities of our scholars and are excited to engage and ignite them in deep intellectual exploration of great ideas, problem-solving activities, and a complex understanding of academic content. Nuasin is a school and community that cares about your "why" and expects you to bring passion, commitment, and respect to our scholars daily.

Responsibilities

  • Complete clerical and administrative tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, etc.
  • Support school-wide events for scholars and staff.
  • Assist teachers with technology issues.
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary devices (routers, printers, etc.).
  • Check computer hardware (mice, keyboards, etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
  • Support beginning-of-school-year and end-of-school-year technology allocation and collection.
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders with the help of the Manager of Academic Operations.
  • Identify opportunities for increased support.
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance schedules.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or switch out Chromebooks, debugging, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and resources that track key metrics for our technology systems.
  • Assist with scholar recruiting.
  • Effectively communicate with families.
  • Support scholars and families with technology troubleshooting.
  • Enter a variety of data into data trackers and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Greet all visitors and control access to the school.
  • Serve as gatekeeper to address questions and minimize interruptions of the school administration and instructional teams.
  • Set the tone for the school's warm and professional culture.
  • Answer phone calls, direct calls, take messages, place outgoing calls, make public address announcements, and send robo-calls.
  • Ensure the school's main office environment is clean, neat, organized, and orderly.
  • Collect and maintain forms and other records, securing missing forms, and ensuring the confidentiality of all scholar records.
  • Use the SIS and other systems to maintain and update all scholar contact/demographic information.
  • Process late scholar arrivals and follow up with families of absent scholars.
  • Ensure scholars leave only with authorized parents or guardians.
  • Ensure memos, notices, and other school-specific documents are delivered, collected from classrooms, and processed daily.
  • Occasionally assist the school nurse with the handling of sick scholars.
  • Assist Manager of Business Operations with special/time-sensitive projects throughout the year, including but not limited to: summer inventory, school year startup, scholar enrollment, assemblies, and end-of-year closeout.
  • Update dismiss sheets daily for classrooms and distribute to staff.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Managing Director that contribute to the school's successful functioning.

Pay

The anticipated salary range is $58,500.00 to $75,000.00 for a candidate who will work in New York City. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience, education, and certifications.
