Switchboard Engineer II

Key Responsibilities
- Create low-voltage switchboards and panelboards, including full 3D assemblies and large BOMs
- Create 3D sheet metal components and flat patterns using CAD tools
- Develop wiring diagrams and electrical schematics using PLCs, relays, breakers, and control components
- Produce 2D drawings including front views, layout drawings, and single-line diagrams
- Ensure designs meet UL standards and NEC requirements
- Support the full product design lifecycle, from concept to release
- Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and quality
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Mentor and support junior engineering team members
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 4-8 years of experience in switchboard, panelboard, or power distribution design
- Experience working with UL standards (UL891, UL67, UL508A, or similar)
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (Autodesk preferred)
- Strong understanding of NEC (National Electric Code)
- Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Knowledge of conductors, OCPDs, and electrical components
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Desired Skills
- Experience in switchgear or large-scale power distribution systems
- Familiarity with control circuits, PLCs, and system logic
- Experience in a manufacturing or OEM environment
- Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers
