Position Summary
The Engineer II – Electrical supports power, energy, and industrial design projects, working closely with Lead and Senior Engineers in a multidisciplinary team environment. This role performs non-routine and moderately complex design assignments, supports technical evaluations, and assists with integrating engineering requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Support electrical design development for small to large-scale projects within multidisciplinary teams
- Read, interpret, and apply customer design documents, specifications, and standards
- Aid in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling efforts
- Support material takeoffs, equipment selection, and cost estimating
- Cookinate electrical activities with mechanical, civil, and other engineering disciplines
- Prepare, review, and check electrical deliverables for quality, accuracy, and code compliance
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and client meetings
- Develop and maintain electrical engineering documents such as load lists, equipment lists, and cable schedules
- Assist with electrical calculations and studies for: Equipment, cable, and raceway sizing, grounding systems, power distribution systems
- Provide design input for: Raceway systems (ductbanks, cable tray, and conduit), lighting systems (interior, exterior, and roadway), grounding systems
- Review vendor documents and submittals for compliance with technical requirements
- Participate in equipment inspections and factory or site acceptance testing as required
- Provide engineering support to construction and commissioning activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement through development of improved processes or design approaches
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a 4-year ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering design experience supporting power and/or industrial projects
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable IEEE/ANSI and NEMA standards
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure upon meeting experience requirements
- Experience supporting Engineer, Procure, and Construct (EPC) projects
- 2–4 years of electrical engineering design experience
- Experience with ETAP, OTI, or similar electrical power system analysis software
- Demonstrated initiative with interest in growing into technical or project leadership roles
