Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs set up and changeover for jobs on turning center machines.
- Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
- Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
- Makes measurements of finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Reads and interprets calipers, micrometers, and blueprints.
- Operates machines as needed.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Assists with cleaning, maintenance, and housekeeping as needed.
- Maintains communication and interaction with office and factory personnel and engineers.
- Performs other functions relating to the turning center area as required.
Requirements & Required Skills/Abilities
- Familiar with G-code.
- Familiarity with operation of Swiss style turning machines (plus).
- Familiarity with multi-axis Swiss style turning machine programming (plus).
- Familiarity with basic feed/speed rates and cutting tools.
- Familiarity with CAM software (plus).
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (plus).
- Able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Able to make decisions with intelligence, intuition, common sense.
- Able to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good basic math skills.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Able to read blueprints and various measuring tools including calipers and micrometers.
- Able to exercise sound judgment in adapting setups.
- Works well independently and in a team environment.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Able to communicate and work with people in office, factory, and inspection as required.
- Safety oriented.
- Able to maintain correct tolerances and quality specifications.
