About the role

This is an onsite position located in Spokane, WA, operating on a swing shift schedule (Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM). The Swing Shift Production Supervisor directs and coordinates production activities, leading Production Leads and Assemblers while championing Barry-Wehmiller’s Truly Human Leadership approach. This role focuses on developing team members, improving plant KPIs (Schedule, Quality, Customer Satisfaction), and participating in continuous improvement, safety, and housekeeping projects. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, detail-oriented, and adept at balancing mechanical aptitude with business operations. Strong communication skills and professionalism are essential for interacting with internal teams and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve project issues to ensure on-time delivery with appropriate quality levels.
  • Lead and plan production activities, including manpower allocation based on scheduled workloads to meet customer ship dates.
  • Report production status in daily Teams meetings and written pass-on reports.
  • Track and verify hourly team members' direct and indirect hours for project accounting.
  • Support procurement of materials and equipment to meet schedules or improve shop performance.
  • Demonstrate Barry-Wehmiller’s Truly Human Leadership behaviors, fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Manage, review, and evaluate performance of Manufacturing Leads and Assembly workers using the BW Elevate/Performance Cycle program.
  • Assess team member skills, develop training plans, and execute employee training in coordination with the Value Stream Leader.
  • Partner with HR and the Value Stream Leader to handle hiring, contingent hours, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Motivate workers to achieve goals through initiatives and suggestions.
  • Serve as the first line of ownership for worker safety, partnering with the Environmental Health and Safety team.
  • Participate in or lead Gemba activities to review project status, continuous improvement efforts, housekeeping, and safety compliance.
  • Suggest changes to working conditions or equipment to improve output, safety, and resource efficiency.
  • Support company schedule or margin goals through quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as needed, including tasks outside the standard classification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or Associate’s degree with 3+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence, and speaking effectively to groups.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating figures relevant to supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization and interpret varied instructions (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and business system/database software.
  • Willingness to travel less than 10%, work occasional weekends, and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, and extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Effective communication (verbal and visual) with internal and external contacts, and ability to meet daily attendance requirements.

Pay

$80,000–$95,000 (dependent on experience).
