This position is open only to citizens of Canada or Mexico under the TN Visa program.

Locations: Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Missouri, and Arizona.

About the role

The Pig Specialist is a key member of a team responsible for the daily care and well-being of all animals to achieve the farm’s production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Feed and water animals; clean and disinfect pens and barns.
  • Label animals for identification.
  • Move animals—using proper personal protective equipment—through breeding, gestation, and farrowing phases into appropriate pens and barns.
  • Monitor sows during farrowing and assist with the birthing process.
  • Ensure piglets are cared for according to warming-box, treatment, and nurse-sow policies.
  • Process piglets by tail-docking, injecting, and castrating.
  • Administer vaccines according to the health protocol to protect animals from disease.
  • Identify animals by age and weight for weaning and transport to customers.
  • Observe animals in heat for boar exposure.
  • Artificially inseminate sows.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal identification, breeding, farrowing, and treatment procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Adhere to all biosecurity policies and protocols to ensure animal health.
  • Control ventilation to ensure proper airflow for animal comfort.
  • Maintain facility hygiene.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment, buildings, barns, and pens.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Mexican citizenship.
  • University degree and professional license in an agricultural field (e.g., Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Science, General Agronomy, Animal Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related field).
  • Professional transcript (kardex).
  • Passport valid for at least three years.
  • No prior experience or English-language ability required.

  • Organized, following systematic methods for task completion.
  • Reliable and dependable; attendance is mandatory.

Education

Graduate with a 4-year degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Animal Breeding, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, or another acceptable related field.
