Swine Service Representative

Our Fort Recovery Feed & Animal Division in Mercer and Darke counties, Ohio, produces and delivers feed while providing support to our contract farmers raising animals for production.

About the role

The Swine Service Representative works closely with our production manager, other servicing managers, and growers to monitor the health of swine.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of swine health, working with growers to manage each herd
• Ensure good health of swine
• Solve grower management problems
• Solve swine disease problems that arise
• Mark individual top hogs for market
• Identify, project, and schedule hog loads for market
• Maintain target sale weights and weight ranges
• Follow through on problem herds
• Practice good sanitation standards
• Communicate effectively with growers and producers
• Communicate effectively with loading crews and trucking companies
• Keep records, fill out receipts, and visit farms weekly
• Teach new growers proper husbandry techniques
• Make suggestions to make the Swine Division more efficient

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in animal science is preferred; an associate degree with experience will be considered
• Valid driver license is required
• Ability to work well with others
• Excellent observation, communication, and organizational skills
