Swimming Pool Maintenance Worker
About the role
The Swimming Pool Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the swimming pool and surrounding areas in a clean and orderly condition. Duties include brushing and vacuuming the pool, cleaning and backwashing filters and lines, cleaning tile and washing down pool decks and walkways, draining and acid washing the pool, conducting chemical tests of water, applying chemicals as needed, cleaning and refilling chlorine bins, making chemical adjustments to obtain proper chemical readings, operating and maintaining pool and related equipment in accordance with prescribed standards, and maintaining current records of maintenance and repair work performed for the swimming pool.
Responsibilities
- Brush and vacuum pool; clean and backwash filters and lines; clean tile and wash down pool decks and walkways; drain and acid wash pool.
- Conduct chemical tests of water and apply chemicals as needed; clean and refill chlorine bins; make chemical adjustments to obtain proper chemical readings.
- Operate and maintain pool and related equipment in accordance with prescribed standards.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in pool operations.
Requirements
Knowledge of: Operations, services, and activities of a swimming pool maintenance and repair program; methods, materials, tools, and equipment involved in the maintenance and operation of swimming pools; basic procedures for chemical tests of water purity and alkalinity.
Ability to: Perform a variety of pool maintenance duties; properly test pool water for appropriate chlorine and alkalinity levels and make adjustments as necessary; operate and maintain pool and related equipment in accordance with prescribed standards; maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in pool operations.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training in the maintenance and cleaning of swimming pools.
- Experience: One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of swimming pools.
- Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid California driver’s license and proof of insurability may be required. Possession of a Certified Pool Operator certificate is desirable.
