About the role
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA seeks individuals, aged 15+, passionate about teaching children to swim and committed to creating a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop essential skills like communication, leadership, and responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe environment for learning to swim
- Encourage and support students to enjoy their aquatics experience
- Evaluate swimming skills and prepare progress reports for each session
- Communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress
- Collaborate with the aquatics staff to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
Requirements
- Age 15+
- Experience working with children
- Passionate about teaching children to swim
- Pass American Red Cross CPR certification
- Pass an in-water skills assessment
