Swim Instructor / WSI

About the role

We are seeking a part-time swim instructor to join our award-winning Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts team at the Kettering Recreation Complex.

Responsibilities

• Instruct all levels of American Red Cross swimming and Special Populations programs in a consistent manner;
• Provide a positive atmosphere for learning at all times;
• Promote good public relations with students and families;
• Maintain a safe pool environment for all class participants;
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times;
• Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings;
• Submit all required paperwork for Kettering Recreation Complex classes;
• Enforce all City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts policies and guidelines;
• Carry out additional duties as assigned;
• Ensure regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years of age;
• Water-enthusiastic and passionate about teaching swimming to participants of all ages and abilities;
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers, and the general public;
• Preferred: Current Water Safety Instructor certification.

Qualifications

Candidates must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers and the general public. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
