Summary
The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing education and training to swim lesson participants in accordance with District guidelines and in an environment that is safe, non-threatening, and fun. Hours may vary including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Individuals must be 16 years of age or older
- Must be able to work with children of many different ages and adults
- Must demonstrate maturity
- Must complete Swim Instructor training
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certification required; if not certified, must become certified
Responsibilities
- Introduce aquatics skills at various levels and teach with enthusiasm, knowledge, discipline, and care for both group lessons and private lessons
- Plan and have the lesson available before each class
- Arrive for lessons at least 15 minutes before each lesson in order to set up for class
- Conduct self in an effective and tactful manner with parents and participants
- Report all unsafe conditions to Supervisor
- Instruct using correct techniques and demonstrations
- Maintain accurate attendance and progress records on all students
- Complete all progress and final certificates for students by the required date
- Report to Swim Lessons Coordinator if there are children that need to be moved up or down to another level based on their skill
- Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance while on duty and remain in District uniform attire
- Gain knowledge of established Emergency Action Plan and perform appropriate skills and procedures under this plan
- Record all time worked accurately
- Practice and follow all policies and procedures as stated in the staff manual and directed by Supervisor
- Perform other related duties, as assigned
Pay
Starting Wage Range: $17.00 - $18.00/hour
Full Wage Range: $17.00 - $19.00/hour
