Swim Instructor

About the role

Being a swim instructor, you will teach swim lessons to kids, teenagers, children and adults. You will be assigned to a class schedule developed by manager(s) and interact with swimmers, and parents and/or guardians.

Responsibilities

• Reports directly to and supports the Aquatics Manager and/or Business Owner(s)
• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment
• Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings (3pm-8pm), weekends (8am-1pm), and holidays as required by business needs
• Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and be in the water for the duration of the shift
• Follow British Swim School's curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons
• Establish and maintain relationships with students' parents and/or guardians
• Teach British Swim School lessons with encouragement and positive reinforcement
• Teach and train new instructors on the British Swim School aquatics program
• Maintain certifications throughout employment

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Ability to instruct swimming lessons within a structured program
• Willing to undergo a background check

Preferred qualifications

• Comfortable in and around the water
• Previous swimming experience
• High end Retail, Hotel, Airline, or any Service industry background is strongly preferred
• Experience working with children, nice to have

Pay

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour, competitive based on experience and progress reviews.

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary-aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.
