Job Summary
The classroom teacher under the direction of the school principal creates a positive learning environment where students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning skills. Responsibilities include establishing rapport with students, parents, and colleagues, motivating students, differentiating curriculum, using effective teaching techniques, supervising students, evaluating students, and communicating with parents.
Essential Functions
- Teach core content areas aligned with the USBE's Core Curriculum and approved learning activities.
- Create lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individual and small group instruction to meet student needs.
- Utilize technology and other classroom support equipment to enhance student learning.
- Supervise students in various settings, including indoor and outdoor responsibilities, regardless of weather conditions.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
- Implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluations and communicate with parents through various means.
- Participate in faculty meetings, follow attendance policies, and engage in professional development activities.
- Model professional ethics and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Effective computer and educational technological skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Establish and maintain a positive learning environment and handle classroom management issues calmly.
- Effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
Required Training and Education
- Utah State Board of Education (USBE) approved cleared criminal background check.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah within the relevant "Licensure Area of Concentration" and if applicable, "Endorsement."
