Swim Aide

Key Responsibilities

• Aid aquatics instructors during swim classes.
• Be prepared for class with all equipment available and ready.
• Put away all equipment after swim classes.
• Maintain a professional image and manner consistently.
• Ensure a clean and safe pool environment.
• Engage in active listening with members to build relationships and assist in their goals.
• Attend mandatory monthly in-service training.
• Attend twice-yearly association trainings.
• Work one-on-one with individual students during group classes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• No experience necessary.
• YASA (YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant) Certification.

Physical Demands

• Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
• May be required to be in the pool for an extended period.
• At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
• Shifts vary, but may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.
