Key Responsibilities
- Aid aquatics instructors during swim classes.
- Be prepared for class with all equipment available and ready.
- Put away all equipment after swim classes.
- Maintain a professional image and manner consistently.
- Ensure a clean and safe pool environment.
- Engage in active listening with members to build relationships and assist in their goals.
- Attend mandatory monthly in-service training.
- Attend twice-yearly association trainings.
- Work one-on-one with individual students during group classes.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- No experience necessary.
- YASA (YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant) Certification.
Physical Demands
- Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
- May be required to be in the pool for an extended period.
- At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Shifts vary, but may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.
