About the role
Bethany Christian Services is a nonprofit organization working across 29 states to support families, foster care, and refugee communities. The SWAN Permanency Specialist position involves helping families through the adoption process, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, and providing ongoing support.
Responsibilities
- Develop home studies and family profiles for approved families
- Complete reports and documents according to agency, program, and licensing expectations
- Provide placement and post-placement services for adoptive families
- Administer the process steps for child profile, child preparation, and family profile
- Prepare children for permanency through life books and therapeutic sessions
- Conduct thorough file reviews and support documentation
- Recruit and screen families for specific children
- Support families and children post-placement through monthly visits and legal paperwork
- Attend SWAN and adoption-related meetings and conferences
- Coordinate care with local area professionals and other professionals involved in the case
- Perform essential job duties on evenings and weekends as needed
- Stay informed about regulatory requirements related to social services
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college
- Master’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college, preferred
- Experience with writing home studies for domestic adoptions
- Prior work experience in child/family welfare
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to solve problems using logic and critical thinking
- Excellent customer service skills
- Reliability with time-sensitive deadlines
- High level of confidentiality
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change
- Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S.
- Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries

Pay
Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually
Schedule
Full-time position with some evening and weekend availability as needed
