Job Summary

Article Student Living is seeking a senior technology leader to oversee day-to-day technology operations, optimize and mature the current environment, and drive execution across corporate IT, property technology, enterprise systems, and data platforms. This role will focus on operational excellence, cost efficiency, and delivery, while partnering closely with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business priorities and a broader enterprise technology model.

Chicago, IL (in-office Monday - Thursday)

Pay Range

Base pay range: $225,000 - $250,000, with a 20% bonus and LTIP eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure reliability, performance, and responsiveness of all core technology services
  • Develop a prioritized stabilization and optimization plan for the current technology environment
  • Establish and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across internal teams and vendors
  • Drive resolution of critical incidents and ensure disciplined problem management practices
  • Translate business priorities into executable technology initiatives with clear timelines and outcomes
  • Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute AI-driven use cases across functions, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and measurable outcomes
  • Oversee delivery of ongoing projects, ensuring alignment to scope, budget, and expected value
  • Align priorities and support execution of initiatives
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of current technology spend, vendor landscape, and contracts
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage external partners for property-level technology deployments (e.g., network infrastructure, security systems, IoT), ensuring appropriate oversight, cost efficiency, and alignment with business needs
  • Identify and execute opportunities for cost reduction, consolidation, and efficiency gains
  • Rationalize overlapping tools, platforms, and services
  • Hold vendors accountable to performance, service levels, and cost commitments
  • Partner with enterprise security leadership to ensure alignment with cybersecurity standards and practices
  • Oversee implementation of security controls across corporate and property environments
  • Ensure adherence to established policies, risk frameworks, and compliance requirements
  • Support incident response and remediation activities as required
  • Oversee the stability and performance of core systems (e.g., Yardi, CRM, finance, HR platforms)
  • Promote effective integration and data flow across systems
  • Support the evolution of reporting and insights to enable better business decision-making
  • Lead and develop a lean, high-performing technology team focused on delivery and service excellence
  • Foster strong collaboration, communication, and alignment across business functions to ensure successful delivery of technology initiatives
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations across the team
  • Strengthen execution capacity by balancing internal capabilities and external partners
  • Partner with enterprise technology leadership to align local operations with established standards, tools, and governance practices
  • Support the evolution toward a more integrated and scalable technology operating model over time

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience
  • Strong track record in IT operations, delivery, and execution
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and platforms common in real estate or asset management environments (e.g., Yardi, Entrata, Microsoft ecosystem, cloud-based collaboration and data platforms)
  • Experience optimizing technology cost structures and managing vendor ecosystems
  • Practical experience in enterprise systems, infrastructure, and service delivery
  • Ability to operate in evolving environments and bring structure to ambiguity
  • Strong communicator with the ability to align business and technology stakeholders
  • Execution-oriented leader who prioritizes outcomes over theory
  • Pragmatic and hands-on, with the ability to quickly assess and stabilize environments
  • Focused on simplicity, efficiency, and measurable impact
  • Collaborative partner who works effectively across business and functional teams
