About the Role
The SUTS Counselor provides substance use treatment services to clients, including individual and group counseling, family counseling, completing ASAM assessments, treatment and discharge planning, case management, linkages, referrals, and other supportive services to adults in Voluntary Residential Substance Use Treatment Programs.
The Muriel Wright Recovery Center SUTS program is an ASAM Level 3.1 service operated under contract with Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department. Services are mental health-informed, using approaches such as Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change, and are heavily group-based to build community and support. Additional services include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), relapse prevention, and physical health screenings.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling
- Conduct family counseling
- Complete ASAM assessments, treatment, and discharge planning
- Perform case management and provide linkages and referrals
- Apply financial requirements for billing and learn billing codes within two months of employment
- Use a company vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) certification as approved by DHCS and NCCA
- One year of experience as RADT in an AOD program
- Maintain active certification status and continuing education as required by the licensing board
- Demonstrated sensitivity to behavioral health issues and multi-cultural populations
- Strong focus and passion for providing excellent customer service
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days
- Valid and current driver’s license, personal vehicle insurance, and willingness to use a company vehicle
All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply.
Schedule
- Shifts Available: AM/PM (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
- Days: Sunday and Monday
- Shift Differentials:
- 6% for PM Shift
- 10% for NOC Shift
- 5% for Weekend AM Shift
- 11% for Weekend PM Shift
- 15% for Weekend NOC Shift
Pay
Expected starting wage range is $min - $mid. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges based on the location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
