About the Role
The Sustaining Engineering Lead is responsible for contributing to Chomerics’s technical initiatives focused on localization and sustaining efforts for electrically and thermally conductive polymers and elastomers. This role involves managing qualification testing and review of second-source raw materials while ensuring cross-functional review and sign-off of necessary changes. The position requires close collaboration with R&D, process engineering, and manufacturing teams to achieve project goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for supporting product development and qualification, with an emphasis on raw material sustainability initiatives.
- Manage project efforts, direct reports, and conduct hands-on laboratory work.
- Support sustaining and localization efforts by identifying and evaluating alternative raw materials and conducting qualification trials in coordination with operations.
- Develop working hypotheses, design experiments, and create experimental plans to understand material, product, or process performance.
- Utilize technical resources to develop materials, test methods, and quality control measures for innovative new materials and processes.
- Provide technical problem-solving consultation for root cause analysis and troubleshooting of polymer science-related manufacturing and quality issues.
- Operate and adjust a wide variety of polymer analytical and processing equipment.
- Interact professionally with colleagues at all organizational levels and build a network of peers with complementary experience.
- Promote a safe working environment in compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Preferred: M.S. in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 4-6 years of experience in polymer-based material development.
- Required: B.S. in an Engineering field with 4-6 years of experience in polymer-based material development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead larger projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience leading teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
- Familiarity with polymer and elastomer process techniques, such as high-shear mixing, milling, molding, and extrusion.
- Ability to research, investigate, propose, and implement new technologies.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of publishing technical reports, patents, trade secrets, or scientific journals.
- Working knowledge of stage-gate processes for new product and process development.
- Proficiency with DOE, statistical analysis tools, and polymer analysis applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills, effective listener, and adaptability to change.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with diverse backgrounds.
- Skills in planning, resource and time management, record-keeping, and goal completion.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
Pay
Pay Range: $102,305 to $170,240 annually. Participation in the Annual Incentive Program is available.
