Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Plan and implement training for employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling of chemicals and substances (Hazcom).
- Maintain safety files and records, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA 1910 documentation.
- Conduct safety surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conduct post-accident investigation and prepare a report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
- Assist in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs.
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in OSHA regulations and best practices in the field of safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a safety role within the manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, Hazcom, SDS, and OSHA 1910.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to train, influence, and motivate team members.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct safety inspections, prepare reports, and maintain safety records.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Pay
$60,000 - $75,000 per year
