About the role

The Sustainability Reporting Senior Manager supports the Sustainability Reporting Director in preparing for and complying with global, mandatory reporting requirements. This includes defining processes, identifying controls, and leading certain activity reporting. The role serves as the subject matter expert for developing, maintaining, and evaluating the Sustainability Reporting for Finance framework and creating supporting documentation to ensure Mars, Incorporated adheres to global regulations and mandatory reporting.

This role interacts with associates across the business to develop, improve, and oversee Sustainability initiatives, ensuring appropriate guidance is followed. Key partnerships include the Sustainability team, Public Affairs, Corporate Controllership, the Segments, and MGS to ensure awareness and compliance. The role also supports identifying potential gaps, providing remediation guidance, and tracking progress. Significant project management responsibilities are required to ensure initiatives are rolled out according to predefined timelines and challenges are escalated in a timely manner.

This is a critical role to maintain high standards of internal control, governance, risk, and compliance efficiently and effectively. The individual must take ownership of both the process and its outcomes, driving positive change and improvement at a fast pace.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for CSRD reporting as a high priority in the first year, while also progressing on other areas to meet voluntary and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Develop controls within the Sustainability Controls Implementation (SCI) program across relevant Sustainability areas, including Environment, Social, and Governance.
  • Coordinate across all owners and subject matter experts to ensure governance, control, and high-quality data for Sustainability Reporting.
  • Develop and manage a reporting calendar and coordinate reporting requirements across functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Business, or Sustainability); MS or MBA is a plus.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting, finance, IT, sustainability, or risk & control roles, with at least 3+ years focused on technical knowledge and skills in sustainability reporting.
  • Experience with privately owned, global, decentralized organizations.
  • Experience with Big 4 public accounting, CPG, manufacturing, or service-based industries.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting processes and controls, including opportunities for automation and standardization.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: CSRD, CDP, ISSB, EU Taxonomy, COSO, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).

Pay

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is USD 134,400.00 - USD 184,800.00. The total compensation package includes variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in a 401k plan, and paid time off. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
