About the role

The Sustainability Intern position is available to start in August at the University of Pittsburgh. Applications can be submitted via email or online. Responsibilities

• Research and analyze sustainable best practices
• Coordinate sustainable initiatives and visualize the source of food
• Prepare metric-backed stories for Business Reviews and other touch points
• Input operations data into reporting programs
• Execute operational standards
• Train dining team and students on sustainable initiatives
• Present findings in reports and presentations

Requirements

• A love of hospitality and passion for sustainability
• Interest in the service industry
• Attitude of a leader
• Enjoyment of inspiring others and sharing knowledge
• Good interpersonal skills
• General interest and knowledge in sustainability
• Awareness of sustainability practices
• Undergraduate student status
• Interest in waste management and food recovery, carbon footprint and labeling, circular economy, hydroponics, or creating a better community

Qualifications

This is a paid internship but does not offer paid time off (PTO) or benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance. The position may involve periods of unpaid work during breaks, depending on business needs.

Skills

Essential skills include research, analysis, coordination, communication, and training. Knowledge of hospitality operations and sustainability practices is beneficial.
