About the role
The Sushi Clerk position at Hy-Vee is part of the Hy-Chi department and is non-exempt under FLSA. The role involves filling customer orders, handling food safely, ordering and receiving products, ensuring order accuracy, and maintaining a positive company image through courteous and efficient customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
- Greets customers with a smile and addresses them by name when possible.
- Aids customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
- Takes customer orders and answers the telephone.
- Reviews orders for the day and understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
- Prepares, finishes, and replenishes products as necessary, checks in product, and removes trash in a timely manner.
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Food Safety Certification.
- Six months or more of similar or related experience.
Qualifications
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
- Ability to write identifying information.
- Ability to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
