About the role

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is California’s fire department and resource management agency, with nearly 12,000 permanent and seasonal employees. CAL FIRE’s mission is to serve and safeguard the people and protect the property and resources of California. As a Surveyor Party Chief, you will work within a team-oriented environment, responding to emergencies and challenging situations while building trust and friendship with your co-workers.

Requirements

  • Valid California Land Surveyor License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • Valid California Class “C” driver’s license to operate a state-owned or leased vehicle.
  • Employment history must be fully documented on the State Application (STD 678); resumes alone are not sufficient.
  • If meeting minimum qualifications through education, unofficial transcripts/diplomas must be submitted for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are outlined in the Transportation Surveyor Party Chief classification specifications. Possession of these qualifications will be verified prior to interview or appointment. Failure to meet minimum qualifications may result in removal from the eligibility list.

Pay

$10,198.00 - $12,761.00 per month. New state employees are typically hired at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range.

Schedule

  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Hybrid telework arrangement.
  • Work location: Sacramento County.
