Responsibilities
- Perform land surveys for maintenance, location, and relocation of section corners using GPS equipment and/or conventional surveying equipment.
- Coordinate layout and checkout of each craft’s work to ensure timely completion.
- Check your own work for accuracy.
- Perform differential level work.
- Conduct construction surveys for roads, bridges, buildings, and other properties.
- Perform basic and advanced field calculations for all aspects of survey work.
- Receive work direction, assist in organizing projects, give assignments, and lead others in their work.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Read, interpret, and work from sketches, blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Operate a two-way radio.
- Perform manual labor such as clearing brush, digging, or shoveling.
- Safely and efficiently operate and use associated tools and equipment.
- Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.
- Perform all additional duties that may be assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of reading drawings and making necessary calculations based on the information given.
- Proficiency in using Trimble software and equipment, including GPS and total station instruments.
- Understanding of occupation hazards and standard safety precautions in the workplace.
- Familiarity with survey field techniques, survey language, conventional equipment, GPS equipment, and other electronic surveying equipment and accessories.
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Communicate effectively through talking and hearing.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
- Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
