About the role

Turner Industries is seeking a Surveyor to join our team in the Lake Charles, LA area. This position plans, organizes, and directs surveying work to determine precise location and measurements of points of elevation, land areas, and contours for construction, map making, land division, and other purposes. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman, with assigned duties following specific procedures and frequent work checks.

Responsibilities

  • Provides work control lines and elevations required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by construction workers.
  • Checks as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
  • Performs topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payment quantities.
  • Conducts quantity calculations as required.
  • Prepares documentation of surveying activities.
  • Maintains condition and adjustment of surveying equipment.
  • Coordinates surveying activities to meet construction requirements.
  • Uses all surveying equipment and techniques proficiently.
  • Performs additional assignments as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to four years of experience in surveying.
  • Advanced knowledge of surveyor tools and equipment.
  • Must pass post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Must sign and comply with Turner Industries’ Drug, Alcohol, and Contraband Policy.
  • Must comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Physical Involvement

  • Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc., above and below ground level.
  • Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures.
  • Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials.
  • Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment.
  • Lifting from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
  • Carrying objects, tools, and equipment.
  • Standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, crouching, or squatting.
  • Seeing and hearing with or without correction.

Pay

Final agreed-upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
