Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Survey project schedules and forecasts.
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects.
  • Direct and perform land based and hydrographic (single-beam, multi-beam, and sonar imaging) surveys.
  • On-site safety, directing, and documenting safety meetings.
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures.
  • Knowledge of surveying equipment and software.
  • Complete project administrative tasks, forms, etc.
  • Ensure survey equipment is in good working condition and properly report any deficiencies.
  • Operate vehicles, survey vessels, and associated support equipment.
  • Aid in the development of survey procedures.
  • Aid in the preparation of project scopes and estimates.
  • Plan and execute project quality control and assurance procedures.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in land surveying.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in the area of practice. High level leadership and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 4-Year degree from an accredited college or university with a course in engineering or closely related field. AutoCAD or MicroStation proficiency. Certified Hydrographer 10hr OSHA General Construction Course.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Safety

  • The duties of this position require the employee to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
  • This position may require the employee to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While in the field, the intern may be required to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand up to eight hours or more at a time.

COMPENSATION

  • The hourly pay range for positions in Kentucky is $24 to $30 an hour, depending on education and relevant experience.
