Surveyor
About the role
Join Benesch's Pennsylvania Division as a Land Surveyor where you will play a key role in supporting a variety of surveying and engineering projects. In this position, you will perform field data collection, property location surveys, prepare survey drawings, and collaborate directly with internal/external clients.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Survey Team to establish survey requirements and conduct surveys in line with standards and contract specifications.
- Research necessary records, perform calculations, and analyze measurements for property locations and legal descriptions.
- Oversee final plat preparation and provide updates on progress, budget, and technical issues. Generate and review survey-related project correspondence, assist in data compilation, and ensure quality control.
- Communicate field issues to the Survey Team Leader /Project Manager.
Requirements
- PLS certification in the State of Pennsylvania
- Associate degree or higher in Survey & Geomatics, Survey Technology, or other related surveying program preferred, HS diploma or GED required.
- 6+ years of experience in drafting plats and boundary calculations.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license held for a minimum of one year and a safe motor vehicle record meeting company standards.
- Advanced knowledge of surveying fundamentals, appropriate software, hardware, and technologies.
- Experience processing survey and completing plats in PennDOT environment
- Ability to work independently while seamlessly collaborating within a project team.
- Effective communication with project leaders and clients is one of your strengths.
- Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated through accurate, clear, and concise project records and files.
Qualifications
A strong background in boundary surveying is essential, including experience with PennDOT right-of-way surveys and plat preparation. Preferred qualifications include experience preparing and reviewing ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Plats, Easement Plats, and other survey deliverables supporting transportation, land development, and infrastructure projects.
